Defining the terms and phrases you’ll hear at Ubud Open Studios.
Showcase:
An exhibition featuring a piece from studios participating that can be used to ‘speed date’ artwork to curate your perfect studio hop.
Studio:
A space or room where an artist, sculptor, designer, photographer, or artisan works. Where you meet the maker and witness the creative process- the sketches, tools, and works-in-progress.
Art-ineraries:
Curated pathways and groups of studios based on your interests and passions.
Hub:
The place where you pick up your wristband, buy day passes, talk to the Hub Team for recommendations, and explore the Showcase.
Art Talks: A chance to hear from art professionals during an intimate discussion at the Hub. Held on the Thursday before the studio doors open.
Catalog:
A complete list of participating studios, in alphabetical order, with information about the artists, the space, and what they are offering during the event. Available in digital and print versions to ticket holders.
Studio Steward:
The Ubud Open Studios’ Team Member who is on duty at each studio, ready to help attendees and the artist.
Demo:
A chance to see a technique in action or a specific process. Often undertaken by the artist during Ubud Open Studios.
Workshop:
A chance to try the technique or material of your choice. Held by the artist in the studio space during the event. Requires additional payment and reservation. Sells out quickly!
Wristband:
The wearable band that shows which type of pass you have and allows you access to the studios during the event. Usually different colors to show which type of pass you purchased.
Map:
The digital and printed map of studio locations created specifically for each edition of Ubud Open Studios to help you navigate.
